Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver. It may be caused by drugs, alcohol use, or certain medical conditions. But in most cases, it’s caused by a virus. This is known as viral hepatitis, and the most common forms are hepatitis A, B, and C.

Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus. The virus is one of several types of hepatitis viruses that cause inflammation and affect liver’s ability to function.

Symptoms of Hepatitis A can include Fatigue, Sudden nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, clay-colored stool, loss of appetite, low-grade fever and yellowing of the skin and the whites of your eyes (jaundice).

Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). For some people, hepatitis B infection becomes chronic. Having chronic hepatitis B increases risk of developing liver failure, liver cancer or cirrhosis — a condition that permanently scars of the liver. Common ways that HBV can spread are sexual contact, sharing of needles, accidental needle sticks and mother to child.

Symptoms of Hepatitis B can include abdominal pain, dark urine, fever, joint pain, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, weakness and jaundice.

Hepatitis C is a viral infection that causes liver inflammation, sometimes leading to serious liver damage. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) spreads through contaminated blood.

Symptoms of Hepatitis C can include bruising and bleeding, fatigue, poor appetite, yellow discoloration of the skin and eyes (jaundice), dark-colored urine, Itchy skin, swelling in legs, weight loss, hepatic encephalopathy and spider angiomas.

Cirrhosis is a late stage of scarring (fibrosis) of the liver caused by many forms of liver diseases and conditions, such as hepatitis and chronic alcoholism.

Hepatic steatosis is an accumulation of fat in the liver. It is an augmentation of fat in the hepatic cells and can cause complications in cases of obesity, alcohol intoxication (due to an excessive consumption of alcohol) or hepatic disorders (like diabetes Type 2).

Indications:

HR 2 boosts functional and structural efficiency of liver. HR 2 reduces the symptoms such as a loss of appetite, fatigue, general malaise, mental disorientation or confusion (known as hepatic encephalopathy), Sleepiness, nausea and vomiting or weight loss.  HR 2 also helpful in Hepatitis A, Hepatitis  B, Hepatitis C ,Cirrhosis, Hemochromatosis.

Pharmacology:

HR  2 contains Cardus Mar, Chelidonium Maj, Ceanothus Am, Chionanthus Virg  due to which it has strong antioxidant potential, specifically from the alkaloid and flavonoid components, that help to support the biliary tract and liver. HR 2 supports bile production; Extra bile helps the body’s digestion processes perform more effectively, specifically by breaking down fat and facilitating toxin removal. HR 2 contains Chelidonium Maj, which has been found to relieve discomfort and is aggressive against certain harmful organisms. HR 2 also contains Cardus Mar in which Silymarin has been shown as an antioxidant, absorber and regulator of the intracellular glutathione; as a stabilizer and regulator of cell membrane permeability that prevents the entering of hepatotoxic substances into hepatocytes. HR 2 causes the stimulation of Liver regeneration as an inhibitor of the transformation of liver stellate cells into myofibroblasts – the process responsible for deposition of collagen fibers in liver, Silymarin has been shown to exert profound effects on hepatocellular plasma membrane that affect its stability and is able to increase the synthesis rate of rRNA by activating RNA polymerase which increase structural and functional proteins production in hepatocytes.

Formula with properties:

Kalamegh 1D: Particularly good for children’s jaundice.

Carduus Marr 1D: The action of this drug is centered on liver, and portal system.  This is also effective in Jaundice and other associated conditions due to hepatic diseases.

Chelidonium Maj 1D: Jaundice due to hepatic and gall-bladder obstructions. Gall-colic. Distension. Fermentation and sluggish bowels. Constriction across, as by a string. Liver enlarged. Gallstones.

Ceanothus Am 1D:  This remedy seems to possess a specific relation to the spleen. Ague cake of malaria. A left-sided remedy generally.  Patient is Unable to lie on left side. Pain in liver and back.

Chionanthus Virg 1D: Hepatic derangements. Jaundice. Enlarged spleen. Jaundice with arrest of menses. A prominent liver remedy. Gallstones. Diabetes mellitus. Paroxysmal, abdominal pain.
